JVS TIMBER — Framing LVL E14 H2S

Framing LVL E14 H2S

Framing LVL E14 H2S is a high-stiffness engineered timber for the harder-working parts of a structure — beams, lintels, bearers and longer spans. Supplied by JVS Timber and manufactured to AS/NZS 4357, it combines a stiff E14 stress grade with glueline H2S termite treatment, giving designers and builders a straight, strong, predictable member that carries loads further than standard framing timber. Where E10 LVL suits general framing, E14 steps up for the structural members that matter most. Whether you are spanning an opening, carrying a roof or floor load or specifying structural beams, Framing LVL E14 H2S delivers the stiffness and reliability the job needs. ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

High-Stiffness LVL for Beams, Lintels and Longer Spans

Framing LVL E14 H2S is laminated veneer lumber made from many thin, pre-graded pine veneers bonded under factory conditions into straight, uniform members. Its E14 stress grade gives it considerably greater stiffness than E10 framing LVL — around forty percent stiffer — which is exactly what beams, lintels, bearers and longer-span members need to limit deflection and carry load. Combined with LVL’s straightness and consistency, that makes E14 a dependable choice for the primary load-carrying timber in a frame. The 'H2S' designation means a glueline termite treatment is infused into the adhesive during manufacture, protecting the whole cross-section so cuts, notches and drill holes need no re-treatment. H2S is for dry, interior, above-ground use south of the Tropic of Capricorn; for weather-exposed structural members, an H3-treated LVL is required.

Key Highlights

Why Choose Framing LVL E14 H2S

High E14 Stiffness

The stiff E14 stress grade limits deflection and carries load, making it ideal for beams, lintels, bearers and longer-span members where E10 framing would not suffice.

Carries Loads Further

Stiffer and stronger than standard framing timber, E14 LVL lets designers span greater distances and handle higher loads with confidence (per span tables).

Straight and Stable

Engineered straightness and dimensional stability mean beams and lintels stay true, with none of the bow and twist that can affect solid timber.

Glueline H2S Protection

Termite protection through the glueline treats the whole section, so cuts and drill holes need no re-treatment on site.

Predictable Performance

Pre-graded veneers and dispersed defects give very consistent structural properties, so E14 members perform predictably to grade.

Long Lengths

Available in long, straight lengths, E14 LVL suits the longer beam and bearer runs common in modern construction.

WORKING & FIXING

Working With Framing LVL E14 H2S

Framing LVL E14 H2S can be cut, drilled and fixed with standard timber tools and fasteners, but as a primary structural member its sizing, support, fixing and any notching or holes must follow the manufacturer’s span tables and details and your project engineer. Do not notch or drill structural LVL outside the manufacturer’s permitted limits. Handle and store members flat, supported and protected from the weather before use. Use appropriate connectors, bearing and tie-down, and follow standard structural framing practice. The E14 grade describes stiffness, but the correct member size for a given load and span always comes from the span tables and, where required, an engineer’s design.

TREATMENT & COMPLIANCE

Framing LVL E14 H2S Treatment & Compliance

The H2S glueline treatment infuses termiticide into the adhesive during manufacture, protecting the entire cross-section against termites and borers, so cuts, notches and drill holes do not need re-treating on site — a particular benefit for beams and lintels that are often cut to length and drilled for services. H2S is for dry, interior, above-ground use and may only be used south of the Tropic of Capricorn. For exterior, above-ground structural members exposed to the weather, use our Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed. North of the Tropic of Capricorn a higher treatment level is required — talk to our team about the right product.

SPECIFYING & SIZING

Specifying and Sizing Framing LVL E14 H2S

Getting the most out of Framing LVL E14 H2S starts with specifying it correctly. The stress grade tells you the stiffness, and the treatment tells you where it can be used, but the actual member size for a given load and span comes from the manufacturer’s published span tables and design information — and, for primary structural members, from your project engineer or building designer. We can supply the exact sizes, grades, treatments and lengths called up on your plans or engineering documentation, so the simplest approach is to send us your schedule and let us match the product to it. Where it helps, we will also point you to the relevant span tables and technical literature. When you order, it pays to confirm the depth, thickness, grade, treatment and length of every member, plus the quantities, so the delivery arrives complete and ready to build with minimal waste. If you are weighing up grades or treatments — for example, whether a job calls for E10 or stiffer E14, or H2S versus an exterior H3 product — our team is happy to talk it through and help you specify the right member for the application, the location and the budget.

FAQS

Framing LVL E14 H2S — Frequently Asked Questions

The number is the stiffness (modulus of elasticity) in gigapascals — E14 is considerably stiffer than E10 (around forty percent). E10 suits general framing as an MGP10 alternative, while stiffer E14 is used for beams, lintels, bearers and longer spans.
