JVS TIMBER — Formwork

Formwork

Good formwork is the foundation of good concrete. The timber and plywood that shape and support a concrete pour determine not only how safely and efficiently the job runs, but the quality of the finished concrete surface. JVS Timber supplies a complete formwork range — stiff, straight Formwork LVL E12 H2S for bearers and joists, and structural formply in F17, F22 and F27 grades for the form face — so formworkers and builders can source a coordinated, standards-compliant formwork package from a single supplier. Whether you are forming a suspended slab, walls, columns, beams or footings, our formwork products deliver strength, straightness and a clean off-form finish, pour after pour. Explore the range below, and contact the JVS Timber team for a free quote on grades, sizes and quantities, delivered Australia-wide.

ABOUT FORMWORK

The Timber and Plywood Behind Quality Concrete

A timber formwork system has two main parts. The form face — the surface the concrete is cast against — is typically formply: structural plywood finished with a high-density phenolic film that gives a smooth, water-resistant face, releases the set concrete cleanly and produces a quality off-form finish. Behind the face sit the bearers and joists that carry the load of the wet concrete; these need to be stiff and straight to hold accurate levels and resist deflection, which is exactly what engineered Formwork LVL provides. Choosing the right products comes down to the loads, the re-use you need and the concrete finish you are after. Higher formply stress grades (F22, F27) and stiffer bearers carry more load and stand up to heavier, more repeated use, while the surface class of the formply governs the off-form finish under AS 3610. JVS Timber stocks the full range so you can build a formwork package matched to your job, and our team can help you specify it.

WHY CHOOSE JVS

Why Choose Formwork from JVS Timber

A Complete Formwork Package

Form face and supporting structure from one supplier — formply in F17, F22 and F27 plus stiff Formwork LVL bearers and joists — so you can coordinate your whole formwork order in one place.

Clean Off-Form Finishes

Our formply’s high-density phenolic face releases concrete cleanly and produces a quality off-form finish, with surface classes to suit your AS 3610 finish requirement.

Strength and Re-Use

Structural F-grades and stiff LVL bearers carry the loads of wet concrete and stand up to repeated handling, loading and stripping — helping you get more cycles from each component.

Standards-Compliant

Our formply is made to AS 6669 and our LVL to AS/NZS 4357, so you can specify with confidence that the products meet Australian requirements.

The Right Grade for the Job

From general-purpose F17 to heavy-duty F27 and stiff E12 bearers, our range covers everything from a single slab to demanding system and mining formwork.

Delivered Australia-Wide

We confirm grades, sizes and quantities and deliver across Australia, with the team on hand to help you specify the right products.

STANDARDS & FINISH

Standards, Grades and Off-Form Finish

Formply is made to AS 6669 (Plywood — Formwork) and is typically described by three things: its surface class, its stress grade and its bond type — for example, 'Class 2 F17 A-Bond'. The surface class relates to the off-form concrete finish achievable under AS 3610, the stress grade (the 'F' number) is the panel’s bending strength in megapascals, and an A-bond is the durable, exterior phenolic bond suited to formwork. Our Formwork LVL bearers and joists are made to AS/NZS 4357 and carry an H2S glueline termite treatment. Higher F-grades are stronger and stiffer, allowing greater loads or wider support spacing, while a higher surface class gives a finer off-form finish. The right combination depends on the loads, the re-use required and the concrete finish specified, so the panel grade, thickness and support spacing should always follow the formwork design. Our team can help you match grade, class and supporting structure to your job.

OUR COMMITMENT

Sustainable & Ethically Sourced

Formwork products are designed to be re-used, and getting many pours from each sheet and bearer is both economical and sustainable. JVS Timber supplies formply made to AS 6669 and LVL to AS/NZS 4357, compliant with Australian industry standards. Caring for formwork so it lasts more cycles — sealing edges, cleaning down, protecting from damage and storing well — is the most sustainable way to use it.

Got Questions?

Formwork — Frequently Asked Questions

The 'F' number is the plywood’s bending stress grade in megapascals — the higher the number, the stronger and stiffer the panel. F17 is the general-purpose grade, F22 is higher-strength for heavier or more repeated use such as system formwork, and F27 is a premium full-hardwood grade for the heaviest construction and mining formwork.
