Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed
Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed is a high-stiffness engineered timber built for the outdoors. Supplied by JVS Timber and manufactured to AS/NZS 4357, it combines a stiff E14 stress grade with H3 treatment for exterior, above-ground exposure and a factory primer that leaves it ready to paint. For exposed beams, lintels and structural members that face the weather — pergola and veranda beams, exposed rafters, carport and entry structures — it delivers strength, durability and a paint-ready finish in one product. Whether you are building exposed structural timber outdoors or specifying weather-rated beams, Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed has the stiffness, protection and finish the job needs. High-Stiffness, Exterior-Rated, Paint-Ready LVL
Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed is laminated veneer lumber made from many thin, pre-graded pine veneers bonded under factory conditions into straight, uniform members. Its E14 stress grade gives it high stiffness for beams, lintels and longer-span structural members, while its straightness and consistency keep exposed timber looking and performing well. The difference from our H2S framing LVL is its treatment and finish: it is built for outdoor life. The 'H3' designation means the LVL is treated for exterior, above-ground exposure — it can get wet and is protected against decay, fungi and termites in weather-exposed applications. The factory primer seals the surface and leaves it ready for your exterior topcoats, saving a site step. The result is a stiff, durable, paint-ready structural member ideal for exposed outdoor timber.

Why Choose Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed
Exterior H3 Durability
Treated to H3 for exterior, above-ground exposure, this LVL is protected against decay, fungi and termites where it may get wet — suiting it to weather-exposed structural members.
High E14 Stiffness
The stiff E14 stress grade carries load and limits deflection, making it ideal for exposed beams, lintels and longer-span members outdoors.
Factory-Primed, Paint-Ready
A factory primer seals the surface and leaves the member ready for your exterior topcoats, saving a site step and helping protect the timber from day one.
Straight and Stable
Engineered straightness and stability keep exposed structural timber looking true and performing reliably outdoors.
One Product for Exposed Structure
Stiffness, exterior treatment and a paint-ready finish in a single member simplify specifying and building exposed outdoor timber.
Predictable Performance
Pre-graded veneers give consistent structural properties, so members perform predictably to their E14 grade.

Where Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed Performs Best
Exposed pergola, veranda and carport beams and rafters.
Weather-exposed lintels and structural members above ground.
Entry and feature structures with exposed structural timber.
Outdoor structural framing requiring an exterior rating and paint finish.
Projects wanting a stiff, durable, paint-ready exposed member.
Above-ground exterior applications generally (not in-ground).
Working With Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed
Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed can be cut, drilled and fixed with standard timber tools and corrosion-resistant fasteners suited to exterior use. As a structural member, size, support, fixing and any notching or holes must follow the manufacturer’s span tables and details and your project engineer; do not cut it outside permitted limits. Seal any cut surfaces and re-prime them before painting to maintain protection. Apply your exterior topcoats over the factory primer following the paint manufacturer’s guidance, coating all faces, edges and cut ends for the best protection and finish. Detail exposed members to shed water, keep them above ground, and maintain the painted finish over time, repainting as needed, to preserve both appearance and durability.

Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed Treatment & Compliance
The H3 treatment protects the LVL for exterior, above-ground exposure, where the member may get wet, against decay, fungi and termites. This is what allows it to be used outdoors in applications where H2S framing LVL must not. Even so, good detailing matters: keep members above ground (H3 is not for in-ground or constantly wet use), detail them to drain and ventilate, and maintain the coating. The factory primer is a finish, not a substitute for topcoats — apply your exterior paint system over it, and re-seal and re-prime any cut surfaces before painting. For in-ground or constantly wet applications, H3 is not sufficient; talk to our team about the appropriate product.

Getting the most out of Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed starts with specifying it correctly. The stress grade tells you the stiffness, and the treatment tells you where it can be used, but the actual member size for a given load and span comes from the manufacturer’s published span tables and design information — and, for primary structural members, from your project engineer or building designer. We can supply the exact sizes, grades, treatments and lengths called up on your plans or engineering documentation, so the simplest approach is to send us your schedule and let us match the product to it. Where it helps, we will also point you to the relevant span tables and technical literature. When you order, it pays to confirm the depth, thickness, grade, treatment and length of every member, plus the quantities, so the delivery arrives complete and ready to build with minimal waste. If you are weighing up grades or treatments — for example, whether a job calls for E10 or stiffer E14, or H2S versus an exterior H3 product — our team is happy to talk it through and help you specify the right member for the application, the location and the budget.

Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed — Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — it is treated to H3 for exterior, above-ground exposure, so it can be used for weather-exposed structural members such as pergola beams and exposed rafters. It is not for in-ground or constantly wet use.
The LVL is factory-primed — sealed with a primer coat ready for your exterior topcoats. You still need to apply a full exterior paint system over the primer, and re-prime any cut surfaces before painting.
Yes. Seal and re-prime cut, notched or drilled surfaces before painting to maintain the protection and finish, and use corrosion-resistant fixings suited to exterior use.
No — H3 is for exterior, above-ground use only. For timber in ground contact or constantly wet conditions, a higher treatment level is required; talk to our team about the right product.
As with all structural LVL, take member sizes from the manufacturer’s span tables and confirm with a project engineer where required. The E14 grade describes stiffness, not the size needed for a given span.
Yes. Tell us the member sizes, grade, treatment and quantities on your plans or engineering documentation, along with your delivery location, and the JVS Timber team will confirm current stock and competitive trade pricing with delivery Australia-wide.
Yes — a key advantage of LVL is that it is manufactured in long, straight, uniform lengths, which suits longer spans and runs and reduces joins. Tell us the lengths you need and we will confirm what is available. In short, Framing LVL E14 H3 Primed is engineered to make the relevant part of your build straighter, stronger and more predictable — our team is happy to help you confirm sizes, grade and treatment, point you to the right span tables, and quote current availability and trade pricing.
